Day The Eagle Cried

September 11, 2001

Five years ago today the world changed.   Usama Bin Ladden gave the NeoCons all the excuse they needed to hijack this country and start us on the road to eternal wars.   Instead of hunting down UBL, Bush illegally started a pre-emptive war in Iraq.

Greed and power were the driving forces that would lead to over three years of war, countless dead and a never ending flow of money to the Military Industrial Complex.   With no plan and no experience in nation building in the muslim world, we find ourselves today in a quagmire that rivals the folly of Vietnam.

We have created an urban terrorist training camp only dreamed of by jihadists.   We have emboldened Iran and allowed them to have a powerful influence in Iraq where once there was none.   We have shown the world that the most technologically superior war machine in history can be made look like fools.   Did we not pay attention to the war in Afghanistan against the Russians and their ultimate defeat?

Where are the great minds that are supposed to be in the top positions of our government?   Are they all as incompetent, corrupt and brainless as George W. Bush, Dick Cheney and Karl Rove?

It is a sad state of affairs that we find ourselves in.   Will regaining a majority in Congress by the Democrats lead to responsibly dealing with the mess that Bush has created?

So many questions and so few answers.   - ƒç
